Job Description

Our clients are searching for an aspiring accountant to join their journey and help develop their career working inside a truly inspiring and rapidly expanding Technology startup builder. This unique situation will see you being exposed to all areas of this dynamic business and the candidate will help to shape and build the finance function in a key point in its own scale-up story.
Due to the rapid expansion, the COO will now be handing over the day to day accounting responsibility to this newly created role of Accounts Assistant. Under the day to day guidance of the COO and with direction from the CFO you will assume responsibility for the daily running of all financial operations across the UK, Poland and India. The candidate will need to develop key relationships both internally and externally, across different countries, with the external accountancy agency and all customers and suppliers.
The objectives for the role

  • Release the COO from general accounts payable and accounts receivable duties
  • Develop a scalable finance function with robust controls and procedures under the guidance of the CFO
  • Help expand the internal reporting to meet the companies growing needs
  • Help administer the companies growing investment portfolio
  • Gradually bring the accounting function in-house over time and expand the team

Responsibilities

  • Running of the accounts payable and receivable
  • Liaison with the external accountants
  • Bank reconciliation
  • Administration of the investment portfolio
  • Payroll & expenses submission
  • All-day to day finance related activities

Qualifications

  • Either qualified or studying towards AAT/ ACCA / ACMA
  • 2 years plus working within a finance function with experience of accounts payable and receivable
  • Ideally holding a relevant Degree in Accountancy or finance

Systems

  • Xero experience
  • Xero ecosystem of integrated applications (credit control, purchase orders and invoices, payment collection, etc)
  • Business Banking
  • Strong MS Office skills, specifically strong excel

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
