Job Description
An Enhanced DBS is required. A Support Worker is required carry out a range of administrative duties for a Social Worker within Adult Services who is visually impaired. The Support worker will need to meet client at Dewsbury Hospital in the mornings and escort to the social work office. The requirement for a female is Exempt under Paragraph 1 Schedule 9 Equality Act 2010.
Key duties:
Support with typing up assessment and reading emails
In-putting onto care first
Support walking up to the wards and observing environment
Support social worker with taking notes and observing patients
Support collecting lunch
Support with reading reports and proof-reading reports and other.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Our clients are generally seeking applicants who are reasonably local, so on that basis we would ideally like you to supply us with your address (or at least your post code) and a telephone number so that we can reach you during working hours. Your recent UK working experience going back at least 5 years, or full employment history if you have been working for fewer years than this. Your availability to work either immediately, or at short notice. Full and valid Driving License. Unless the DBS requirement stated above is for a Basic Disclosure, your DBS must be either through us or be accompanied by a subscription to the DBS updating service. Experience of working in an administrative setting undertaking general office duties. Literacy skills to be able to produce a variety of documents, read documents (e.g. Council minutes, reports and journal extracts) and proof read documents. Understanding of the importance of confidentiality. Understanding of equality issues and their impact on the service we provide. Understanding of disability issues including the role of a Support Worker. Able to maintain filing systems. Able to relay accurate information both verbally and in writing. Able to put visual information into words and be able to understand and explain non-verbal communications e.g. body language etc. Able to make observations and relay relevant information. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages. Any local authority/public sector experience. Any relevant qualifications held or being studied for.
