This role requires someone who wants to work closely with operations professionals and customers in a partnering role with full exposure to a top tier Big 4 qualified Financial Controller and experienced Private Equity CFO.
This is a new role that would suit an ambitious part-qualified accountant with experience as an assistant accountant, assistant management accountant, management accountant or finance/commercial analyst.
As the Finance Analyst you will be required to join the existing finance team to really drive commercial analysis and reporting while also covering core monthly accounting duties. Key responsibilities will include:
Identify and implement commercial opportunities to increase revenue and margins
Supports ad-hoc analytics such as:
Review of customer rates versus billing
Job profitability analysis
Market and competitor analysis
Support Head of Operations and Head of Commercial with ad-hoc project work and commercial analysis
Support and cover for support services and billing, including (but not limited to):
Production and issue of quotes, invoices and credit notes
Liaising with the business and clients to resolve queries relating to quotes / price build ups / billing
Updating billing information on the ERP system - invoices / credit notes / payments
Monthly reporting e.g. on outstanding invoices
Support and cover for Financial Controller on month-end activities, including (but not limited to); balance sheet reconciliations, journals, VAT returns, monthly reporting and analysis, fixed asset accounting
Provide spend analysis to support decisions across Operations and equipment maintenance teams
Identity and implement process improvements related to the above
Support Financial Controller on periodic audits, including annual statutory and quarterly bank audits
Assistance with the maintenance of the Finance System (Exchequer) e.g. creating new codes and maintenance of these across other systems
Support ad-hoc financial reporting as required by the Financial Controller

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The successful Finance Analyst is likely to be a part-qualified accountant or latter stage studier (ACA, CIMA, ACCA), and possess a solid accounting background allied to commercial analysis and reporting experience. This is a highly visible role that would suit a confident communicator who enjoys business partnering and influencing senior management but who also likes to get into the detail of core accounting duties. Due to the analytical nature of this role you will need to possess strong Excel skills and be able to build reports from scratch to provide insights. Experience working with large data sets and manipulating data using Vlookups, pivots, SUMIF and other complex formulae is essential.
