Job Description

Your duties (but not limited too)

  • To support the Assistant Director regarding the allocation of resources, the financial outputs, risk management, change management and management behaviours when leading on Health and Safety, Risk and Audit functions of the Council
  • The role will support the Director in setting the overall strategic direction of the Health and Safety, Audit and Risk functions of the Department
  • To work collaboratively across all service areas with other Heads of Service/Assistant Directors/Directors
  • To act as the lead in the strategic management and development of the professional functions taking overall responsibility for the Health and Safety, Risk and Audit functions within the Council
  • To lead the Audit function on a day to day basis
  • To ensure that the development and improvement of the Audit function is in accordance with the requirements of the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards
  • To lead develop and deliver an effective Council wide Risk Management Framework to identify, evaluate, manage and report key corporate and service risks and opportunities, with a view to maximising delivery against its strategic objectives
  • Ensuring that the Council’s and group companies’ insurance arrangements are adequate and cost effective
  • Providing risk management and insurance advice to officers and members
  • To represent the Council at corporate, regional and other meetings and forums as directed by the Director
  • Be accountable for the relevant service budget
