Job Description

 

  • To manage and co-ordinate all elements of pre-construction, ensuring that high quality, competitive proposals are delivered to the customer in a manner consistent with the Balfour Beatty Management System.
  • To deliver project management and technical support during the pre-construction process and share knowledge across Centres of Excellence and CSUK to deliver high quality technical and commercial services.
  • To manage and coordinate all requirements of the Gated Business Lifecycle in line with delegated levels of authority.
  • To prepare and approve responses to technical questions as part of bid submissions, and to respond to customer queries as part of the pre-construction process.
  • To prepare and manage bid & pre-construction expenditure in line with approved budgets.
  • To coordinate and manage the integration of the commercial pricing strategy into the tender submission or pre-construction process.
  • To manage all pre-construction activities with the customer and act as the point of contact for all aspects of the pre-construction period.

As a Pre-Construction Manager, your main responsibilities are as follows:

  • To deliver pre-construction activities in line with budget requirements
  • To ensure that pre-construction and tender deliverables are produced in a timely and effective manner
  • Complete requirement for the Gated Business Lifecycle approvals
  • To implement the pre-construction strategy to deliver the project in accordance with the tendered requirements
  • Complete written responses to relevant tender questions submitted as part of a bid or pre-construction process
  • Consider the commercial attractiveness of project and report conclusions early to management
  • Assist in setting process key objectives and timescales, including managing bid cost / pre-construction budgets
  • Identify significant development/project risks and opportunities and report these using the IRIS system
  • Meet customers on a regular basis and respond to queries
  • Convert 2-stage opportunities to on-site delivery projects
  • Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm
  • Support the delivery of CSUK’s Sustainability activities
  • Positively promote Balfour Beatty in external communications
  • Utilise Yammer and participate in the ‘My Contribution’ initiative
  • To liaise with the customer and act as the point of contact for delivering any aspects of the bid or pre-construction process
