This role will include learning about all aspects of Coding and how each code relates to a service / medication provided to patients.
Responsibilities include:
Identify relevant clinical information contained in patient correspondence
Code the appropriate clinical information accurately on the patient record and follow up any actions contained within the correspondence according to practice protocols
Forward necessary correspondence to the usual GP, or other person who is most appropriate to receive the information
Cross check medication and doses. Check it tallies with repeat medication list and send GP clear message that medication needs to be checked and altered
Ensure that all QOF related data is captured
Ensure any safeguarding related data is captured
Undertake a supervised training period demonstrating the ability to acquire sufficient knowledge and expertise to ensure that clinical information is accurately and efficiently abstracted from patient case notes and relevant documents
Contribute to the auditing and constructive feedback process
Raise any coding queries with the practice manager and clinicians to ensure quality and consistency of coded information
Dealing with queries relating to coding within scope of competence
