Job Description

As Commercial Manager you will:

• Support the New Homes Development Team with advice on cost related matters at all stages of the development process from initial scheme feasibility through to construction and practical completion
• Provide the lead on commercial management of new build development projects to ensure maximum public benefit is realised from investment
• Lead on performance and quality management of commissioned cost consultancy services including development and production of standardised commissions, service requirements and KPI’s
• Provide the leading role in commercial review of Contractors Proposals prior to award of contract and provide commercial oversight of options to improve financial efficiency throughout the development process
• Support the Council’s delivery of its objectives to maximise provision of new affordable homes and public benefit by benchmarking cost areas across the programme and providing commercial input to improve value for money
• Take the leading role in providing client representation during any commercial disputes, reviewing and challenging particulars of claims and instructing expert witnesses and legal representation as required
• Introduce and manage a standard financial reporting process to support cost comparison exercises and financial benchmarking
• Work with the Technical Design Manager and other stakeholders to review financial implications resulting from changes to design requirements
