Project Delivery / Working Capital Management
Working as a key member of the London Building Services Team:
- On a Project basis, provide input to the Discipline’s risk and opportunity register on a regular basis with particular focus on additional fee claims, working capital recovery and mitigating disputes before they arise.
- Ensure that contract and project reviews are undertaken in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.
- Provide support to the Discipline, working closely with the Finance and Legal Teams where required, to:
- Pursue claims for additional fees.
A typical week would include:
- Recover disputed working capital.
- Resource management/forecasting
- Project planning -Management of resource & costs on single and multi-disciplinary projects
- Complete and maintain Cost to Completes and the month end Project Forecasting Tools
- Aligning time sheets to ensure books are allocated correctly to aid invoicing
Working with the London Building Services Team to provide support in:
- Change Management (programme and value) in compliance with the contractual and business obligations, including directing and supporting the Discipline’s Contract/Project Managers in the:
- minimising of risk exposure
- preservation of contractual entitlements
- timely issue of all relevant notices, CEs & EWNs or similar
- generation and maintenance of registers and reports
- review of client communications
- timely issue of robust responses
- Dispute resolution - liaising closely with the Legal Team.
- Invoicing
- Working capital recovery.
- Regular engagement with the Client in relation to programme, progress, invoicing, CEs, EWNs etc
Continual Improvement
Liaise closely with the Commercial Team contributing to decision making and identifying business improvement opportunities; and contributing to the development of an enhanced commercial culture in the business.
As a member of the London Building Services Team:
- Raise commercial awareness and performance in the Discipline through regular feedback, meetings and providing training.
- Review and implement improvements to processes and systems.
- Be fee earning, working to budgeted utilisation levels.

Proven ability and track record in the majority of the following:
- Experienced in preparation and commercial support to tendering activities for large contracts.
- Proven track record of the commercial delivery of multi-disciplinary contracts.
- Specific experience of operating within joint ventures and strategic alliances.
- Experience of working closely with legal teams to provide successful governance of all commercial aspects of the contract life cycle.
- Change management - expertise across the main industry forms including NEC 3 and 4.
- Identification, preparation and evaluation of claims including assessment of programme impact and evaluation.
- Strong project management, organisational and investigative skills; Ability to simplify complex concepts.
- Drafting of contractual correspondence.
- Chairing commercial meetings with clients / contractors.
- Active participation in regular review of project risks and opportunities to minimise outturn cost through Value Engineering.
- Pro-active engagement in risk identification, evaluation and mitigation activity.
- Proven capability of working in a collaborative environment with a strong teamwork ethos.
- Strong drive with sound judgement. Quickly establishes credibility and sphere of influence.
