Job Description

The Role:

The ideal candidate will manage the costs and the commercial aspect of Temporary Works (TW) on the project. This will include minimise the TW design costs and enhance value for money whilst ensuring that the project meets all legal and quality assurance requirements and regulations.
The role includes dealing with contractual and legal matters and ensure commercial processes are in place. The ideal candidate will also manage and control the TW Consultancy and affiliates members budget and possible contract variation.
About us:

The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high-speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high-speed services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dealing with contractual and legal matters.
  • Ensure commercial processes are in place.
  • Take care of the commercial administration and management of temporary works.
  • Managing costs to make sure that the initial budget is not exceeded (e.g. review existing and future temporary works briefs and designs to capture changes and variations).
  • Management and control of TW Consultancy and affiliates members accounts and possible contract variation.
  • Ensure that TW Consultancy and affiliates members receive order/information to undertake Temporary Works design task.
  • Help with the submission and the redaction of Early Warning Notice
  • Manage the financial aspects of Temporary Works on the project.
  • Report on a regular basis using platforms such as “Power BMI” on the status of designs in your area, focusing on program and budget in particular.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Degree educated in Quantity Surveying (Essential) Experience of working as a Quantity Surveying for a Construction Main Contractor (Essential) Membership of relevant professional body (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, RICS, Preferred). Understanding Civil Engineering and Temporary Works measurement principles (Essential). Sound knowledge of all main forms of NEC, ICE and JCT contracts (Essential) Sound knowledge of cost/contract management systems (i.e. CEMAR) (Essential) Strong proficiency in the use of all Microsoft office applications, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint (Essential) Previous experience with Network Rail, London Underground and the Highways Agency projects (preferred)
