The Expediting Engineer is a role within the Offshore Business focussing on assisting in the supplies delivery within the Offshore Wind projects since the manufacturing start till the supplies are delivered to the sites, liaising with Execution Managers and Contractors, and ensuring that SPR’s/Iberdrola position is suitably protected at any agreements.
Expediting Engineer shall actively monitor and report the deadlines, bottlenecks and manufacturing schedule to help the project reach the offshore wind project milestones and ensure that equipment, materials and components arrive at the right place, at the right time, in the right conditions with the right documentation fulfilled.
Belonging to the Construction Department and Reporting to the Expediting Lead Manager, the Expediting Engineer will assist the project execution in all issues related to supplies, providing inputs in strategies, plans or progress.
The individual will be working as part of a global business with activities in many countries across Europe and the rest of the world. The position may require frequent travel to various locations in the UK and overseas and during development, contracting and supporting with the delivery of small-scale Fabrication.

The Expediting Engineer will be assigned to East Anglia Hub Offshore Project, liaising with a large number of interfaces and managing all the expediting works within this IBERDOLA’s offshore project.
Depend in the project phase, expediting activities used to include, but not limited:

  • Assistance in the integration of the Free Issue Equipment (FIE’s) with in the different Offshore packages and designs, including co-ordination, planning and all supplies and FIE logistics, certifications of approval requires during the manufacturing phase of the Project
  • Lead the expediting service during the execution phases, where the expediting engineer shall have a comprehensive support along the entire supply chain, supporting in the supplier’s selection including follow up on major project milestones and deadlines.
  • Monitor the manufacturing progress, time schedules, supplier workload, and identifying areas of concern. Expediting service will carry out manufacturer’s inspections and assess the production plans and capacity.
  • Progress reporting, verification of contractual conditions and actual project status which are being plan and reported accordingly to execution managers.
  • Field expediting, to carry out inspection on field, project support on manufacturing issues and expeditor review of actual order status.
  • We also assure safe and correct loading, shipment and discharge at any location to ensure that the package receive proper and undamaged goods and materials. Also supervise and monitor all construction site activities
  • Desk expediting, Offsite monitoring of order progress at specific milestone points.
  • Plan and report all Expediting visits according Package/Expediting manager instructions.
  • Control of the manufacturing status of the different components at factories in relation to the production plans, evaluating critical points which could affect the production and consequently the delivery times of the project
  • Monitor and expedite the Purchase Orders for the component of the key suppliers.
  • Collect all information requested and update the tracker files of the supplies.
  • Verification and control of freight forwarders and transport companies. Manage the communications with project forwarder.
  • Monitoring and support the package for any Transport issues (revision transport plan, transport follow ups, permits...)
  • Attend any Inspection or meeting of different OWF packages,
  • Control of the fulfilment of the equipment packaging and sea fastening process according to the applicable procedure.
  • Manage the site Interface with Marine Warranty Surveyors and issue the Shipping release on behalf of the employer, as required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Educated to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline. Pro-active and diligent approach. Sound relationship management skills and confidence working with senior colleagues. Good planning and analysis skills Innovative and creative thinking Problem solving – dealing with conflicting requirements Tenacity, persistence and determination to succeed in overcoming obstacles. High capacity for change. Ability to deliver required outputs in a timely manner. Competent report writing, presentation skills and ability to summarize key parameters and drivers impacting the project and business. Contribute to early development projects, giving advice to development teams on build ability / delivery issues. Analyse technical/ specialist risks and issues and the viability of solutions recommended. Assist with documenting decisions (whether internal or external diligence). Assist with management of marine interfaces between projects - industry standards. Degree and professional qualification in relevant engineering discipline – Mechanical/Electrical/Marine Engineering or Naval Architectural or Renewables IT literate with the ability to operate MS Office systems and other IT based project management software. Flexible to travel regularly to attend meetings and work at different project sites in a few countries thought northern Europe and USA, particularly Germany, France, Denmark, Spain, etc.
