The Apprentice Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for:

  • Ensure you are aware of your roles and responsibilities with particular reference to Align JV’s commercial interests.
  • Help to maximise staff morale.
  • Ensure you effectively and appropriately communicate between members of staff where required.
  • Attend regular internal meetings held and ensure your actions are closed out quickly.
  • Assist in the preparation of comprehensive sub-contract comparisons.
  • Carry out your procurement duties in accordance with the commercial policy.
  • Assist in the production of the back up to the monthly commercial reports produced in accordance with Align JV’s Commercial policy.
  • Ensure subcontract payments are based on accurate valuation and are made on time
  • Identify risks and bring them to the attention of your manager on an ongoing basis
  • Minimise waste
  • Develop an understanding of the different programme types weekly, as-built, construction, target and contract
  • Assist in the production of payments to consultants for approval.
  • Participate in post contract review and complete assigned actions.
  • Settle sub-contracts assigned in a timely manner and ensure that final account statements are signed by the sub-contractors
  • Assist with the archiving in accordance with Align JV’s commercial policies.
  • Being aware of and report any potential business development opportunities

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• A passion for engineering and construction, and for the commercial and contractual mechanisms of a high-profile infrastructure project • Five GCSEs grade A-C (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above) including Maths and English and a science; or equivalent, such as a Level 2 Apprenticeship
