Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Associate in the Highways sector to be part of this established team working on exciting highway, road safety and traffic engineering projects. Due to recent successes our team is growing and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate seeking new and exciting opportunities.

You will form part of an existing team to deliver a variety of highway and transportation schemes for a number of public and private sector clients both in the UK and overseas.

Your role will be at the heart of our high performing region, using your technical skills and expertise to help us continue driving forward in terms of both technical quality and service efficiency.

  • Managing projects to ensure coordination of multi-disciplinary inputs.
  • Managing resources effectively and efficiently to meet fluctuating work loads
  • Working with Clients and design teams to deliver compliant designs on time and within budget meeting CDM, QA and technical review requirements.
  • Leading the design process and encouraging the rest of the team to deliver appropriate and cost effective solutions; support those less experienced by technical review, mentoring and advice.
  • Managing your design teams project cost, programme, quality output and risks within agreed scope
  • Participating in tender bids and business development opportunities as they arise.
  • Mentoring and tutoring more junior members of the team

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer status with extensive post professional qualification experience Experience of leading a team of highways designers on medium to major multi-disciplinary projects and motivating, developing and mentoring senior and junior staff. Demonstrable project and client management skills, including evidence of developing client relationships and repeatedly winning business. A proven track record of managing and delivering numerous projects to time and within budget. Technical knowledge of industry design standards and the ability to guide and support internal design teams Proven experience in feasibility, preliminary and detailed design and traffic management, including experience of writing technical specifications. Site supervision and experience of working closing with works contractors. Evidence of collaboration being at the heart of everything you do An ability to develop, review, amend and negotiate project scopes and fee proposals is essential.
