Job Description

The core objectives of the position include:

  • Ensuring the appropriate systems and processes are in place for employment tax compliance across our business and being responsible for conducting governance and assurance checks in respect of those processes
  • Playing a critical part in representing Wood to ensure a pro-active and positive relationship is in place between Wood Tax Team and HM Revenue & Customs in respect of Employment Taxes
  • Delivering workshops, presentations and training to provide employment tax support to Wood Teams including Payroll and People & Organization
  • Collaborating with colleagues within the wider Employment Taxes Team and Group Tax to deliver solutions to our businesses where your skills add value. This might include support on employment tax matters outside the UK so you will be comfortable working as part of a Team including with external advisors on ad hoc projects related to employment taxes

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Degree qualified. Professional tax qualification required – Chartered Tax Adviser preferred due to the level of tax technical advice required and the autonomy of the role. In depth UK tax technical employment tax knowledge, in particular of UK PAYE and NIC legislation relating to all aspects of employment taxes. Knowledge of changing regulatory environment and current employment tax challenges for UK employers. Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning and development and a commitment to tax technical excellence in their field. Demonstrates the ability to bring innovative strategies and implement long term solutions for tax compliance support and management. We are a large employer with all the complexities which can arise in this area of tax.
