The Senior Financial Accountant (SFA) reports to the Financial Controller (FC) and supports all aspects of the financial and cost accounting for our legal entities, supporting the integrity of the group finance ERP system. This includes complying with all statutory reporting requirements for the business including tax related matters. The SFA will also deputies for the FC during any periods of absence. Having gone through a major restructure recently there is a need to improve the rigor and processes around the month end reporting cycle.
Accounting
Ensure the integrity of all P&L and B/S statements, check that accounting entries are accurate; verified and reconciled. All accounting statements produced should be presented in a standardized format
Oversee asset; liability and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information
Undertake the preparation of more complex journal entries and check entries from direct reports
Ensure bank reconciliations are accurate and up to date
Prepare monthly financial statements for all legal entities compliant to iFRS.
Comply with VAT; tax and any transfer pricing requirements
Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis for regulatory agencies; stockholders and auditors
Demonstrate a keen eye for detail; be able to handle and investigate large volumes of data
Be able to work across all business functions to educate and regulate accounting treatments
Improve the Month End Cycle
Work with the FC to further develop and improve the month end close timetable
Work with the FC to develop financial processes and procedures.
Chair monthly ‘lessons learned’ sessions with the Finance team to identify errors & issues that adversely effected the timeliness or quality of the month end delivery and develop an action plan to improve
Walk Overhead P&L owners through their monthly reports to ensure costs are booked correctly and develop a robust forecast process that improves the overall quality of Financial Planning & Reporting
Cleanse the Fixed Asset Register and standardize the format between legal entities
Systems
The role of the SFA requires use of the AX ERP system, ensuring compliance with system usage and data integrity as being core to this role. An Atlas reporting tool is used to present financial information into useable MS Excel formats and other in-house systems may need to be interrogated and reconciled
Reporting
Maintain progress reporting, keep the FD & FC updated on key milestones
Involvement & support with statutory & tax audits as and when required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Working knowledge of iFRS accounting treatments and adoption of these within an accounting function. Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision and deputies for the FC when required. Excellent time management skills with the ability to successfully priorities competing demands and be able to delegate effectively to the two existing direct reports within the Finance team. Has a questioning approach, challenging the status quo and be willing to drive improvement. Computer literate (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and be able to learn new in-house applications. Experienced Financial accountant with ideally 10 years’ experience or more in the role. Has worked in a fast-paced business during a time of significant structural change. Proven track record of developing and implementing processes and procedures.. Managed or supervised direct reports. General administrative experience with proven organizational skills. A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience and a strong technical accounting background. Demonstrate strong Planning & Organizational skills, being able to formulate clear & structured plans; effectively priorities tasks & resources and set realistic expectations of themselves & others. Results driven, sets high standards for quality, working in a systematic, methodical and orderly way.
