Job Description

Role attributes:

  • A chartered engineer with significant international major & mega project management experience. Strong capability in application of project management principles, methodologies and tools. Track record of successfully leading large international project teams to successfully deliver.
  • Determined, adaptable and resilient with the ability to lead teams to achieve success under significant pressure, evolving requirements, and conflicting priorities.
  • Culturally astute with experience and ability to understand & adapt leadership and management styles to different cultures associated with multi-region project execution and a multi-cultural team. Experience of customer and external stakeholder management and proven ability to influence to achieve success.
  • Established and proven ability to build relationships with key individuals in all teams, JV partner and national companies across multi regions and functions that are involved in execution of the project. Able to leverage those strong relationships to the benefit of the project.
  • Understand the capabilities of all internal and external project contributors. Able to assign scope and responsibilities accordingly and understand how to respond to different conflicting voices during project execution.
  • Strong and articulate communicator who can adapt communication style to diverse internal and external audiences, and successfully communicate key messages and achieve desired influence.
  • Mega project execution or PMC experience with multiple EPC companies and interfaces.
  • International execution management experience.

Role accountabilities:

  • Ensure delivery of the EPC contract deliverables meeting safety, engineering & quality requirements.
  • Deliver the field scope of project delivery, commissioning, start-up and handover to JV Operations, within Corporate Personal and Process Safety targets.
  • Accountable for the adequacy of safety and security measures for personnel deployed to site.
  • Control the project budget, identify and manage scope changes. Manage project change control ensuring costs are appropriately allocated to EPC or JV partners.
  • Project compliance with Anti-Bribery and Corruption requirements for all project elements within own control.
  • Deliver the project risk management plan, identifying and mitigating key risks.


Role responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the overall Project Execution and asset handover strategy with appropriate functional input. Review existing plans and identify any gaps or interventions to project budgets and schedule to ensure a safe start up and transition to clients.
  • As primary customer facing contact (single point of contact) with client project organisation and other external stakeholders, ensure no breach of AP’s contractual boundaries whilst maintaining a balance against the need to maintain positive relationships.
  • Define the project organisation and recruit the project team from internal and external resources to successfully deliver commissioning, start-up, handover.
  • With support from functional leaders, define any Sub-Contract execution strategies for construction, commissioning, start-up.
  • Develop robust Project Controls functionality consistent with project size, risks and external reporting requirements.
  • Develop project risk management plan and regularly refresh throughout the project. Ensure all known risks are effectively managed and communicated to stakeholders.
  • Apply the design and execution lessons learned and best practices from other projects.
  • Ensure optimisation of capital purchasing and sub-contracting with the objective of balancing risk versus cost.
  • Ensure project safety processes are implemented to manage field safety.
  • Responsible for all project reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Control scope creep and change. Ensure all changes that can be claimed as scope changes are clearly documented and passed through to client for resolution
  • Drive and motivate the team to deliver the project critical success factors.
  • Approve bid tab and capital purchases >$TBC and all subcontract purchases.
  • Manage the engineering – construction interface, ensuring local content and practice requirements are satisfied and that constructability and value engineering are front and centre throughout engineering execution.
  • Develop and execute detailed execution strategy, execution plan, execution risk management plan, technical risk management plan. Ensure Air Products and industry best-practices and knowledge are captured and incorporated.
  • Provide leadership and support to the project development team to complete detailed project cost estimation and structure the project control budgets.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Engineering Degree or equivalent.
