Job Description

Our client is seeking candidates for the position of Senior Financial Accountant to join our Controllership Function based in our Tower Place office

What you can expect?

  • This role plays a vital part in ensuring the integrity of the Controllership function, specifically focused on the Consulting Controllership area.
  • The Consulting Controllership team covers all Operating Companies within company that provide consulting services and consists of a team of 9 colleagues. The team is supportive, collaborative and well established and this role will focus specifically on assisting with the accounting and financial reporting activities for Mercer, Health, Wealth and Career.
  • This is a wide ranging role in which you will perform ad hoc tasks as well as examine and analyze financial information, liaising with internal stakeholders
  • Training will be provided on the more technical aspects of the role where required and there are excellent development opportunities in the long term, both within this team and the wider finance teams across the company.
  • Within the first 90 days you will be expected to have gained a good understanding of the role requirements and be able to handle month end activities confidently, have built good relationships with stakeholders and have started to gain an understanding of the business

We will count on you to:

  • Complete reporting activities include variance analysis for P&L and balance sheet, month end close, preparation, review and approval of balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare Accounting memos to support complex accounting decisions, SOX and internal audit remediation and assistance with acquisition accounting.
  • Query resolution and ad hoc project work
  • Liaise with colleagues in our offshore accounting hub based in Warsaw as well as internal stakeholders across the finance team such as FP&A, Statutory Accounting and Ireland's Controllership function.
  • Work with accuracy and to deadlines, handling and manipulating large volumes of data

What you will need to have:

  • Qualified Accountant preferably ACA; ACCA or ACMA
  • A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience within a large corporate company, professional or financial services
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • The ability to prioritise and multitask, working to deadlines and under pressure.
  • Flexibility as workloads and duties can change at short notice
