Job Description

The group operates in the fintech space, offering a combination of payment and technology solutions to merchants and consumers. The nature of this international business with operations in the UK, Ireland, Bulgaria, Canada, India, Austria and the US, offers an interesting and challenging role for an enthusiastic accountant, who enjoys being part of the business, and also part of a growing tax team.

Working alongside the Head of Tax, the Senior Tax Manager and the Senior VAT Manager, the Senior Tax Accountant will be responsible for:

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Corporate Tax:

  • UK Corporate Tax Returns
  • SAO documentation
  • CFC analysis
  • HMRC correspondence and help manage global tax authority relationships
  • Assist maintaining and improving tax efficiency, to understand tax positions across the group.
  • Assist with intercompany financing strategy for tax efficiency

Transfer Pricing:

  • Assist with analysing, setting and documenting transfer pricing policies and strategy, including the preparation of a master file and the refresh of all group transfer pricing documentation
  • Country by country reporting
  • Implementing and embedding transfer prices in the groups accounting system to enable monthly inter-company charging of all appropriate fees
  • Assisting the group in its global expansion by advising on the transfer pricing models that should be applied to new countries as the group expands depending on the activity of that country
  • Setting a framework for procurement across the groups 3 core divisions which compliments the transfer pricing strategy

VAT:

  • Assist with preparation of the UK group’s VAT return
  • Assist with Global VAT inspections
  • Provide support to the business in respect of matters raised by HMRC and any other VAT authority
  • Assist VAT planning to maximise recovery rates, including the VAT implications of intercompany charges
  • Assist process improvements in accounts payable and accounts receivable, to automate VAT reporting
  • Assist with VAT assurance reviews across the UK business and EMEA

Skills and Experience:

  • 2+ years post-qualified experience, preferably with in-house experience
  • Strong interest in tax, with desire to expand experience and understanding of international tax
  • Good written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, demonstrating true ownership and delivering results in a professional and timely manner
  • Strong attention to detail and self-review
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • Team player able to successfully work closely with various finance functions and networks across geographies and commercial disciplines
