The team:

Validation Services is Sedgwick`s independent validation service for lower value domestic and commercial building claims, providing a quick settlement - more than 90% of claims are finalised during the first visit. We have 100% coverage across the UK delivered by a national network of Building Claim Inspectors, who are independent construction industry specialists with hands-on experience in organising and costing out repairs.

The role:

As a self-employed Building Claim Inspector, you`ll visit policyholders who have insurance claims in their homes. You`ll need to be well organised with excellent time management skills and detailed technical experience, from a trade or construction related background. You will need to be comfortable using technical tools like laser measurers and protimeters, and comfortable using ladders to house gutter height and sampling for Asbestos Containing Materials - all of which you need to provide for your own use, along with other equipment.

You also need to have a well presented, reliable car.

Our validation and report writing standards are high and so you must also be computer literate and familiar using technology like iPads and digital cameras, sat nav etc. We also deliver our findings direct to the customer at the first meeting so you will need to have strong technical knowledge of buildings as well as empathy for the customer and confidence to negotiate with builders.

A basic knowledge of insurance policies and philosophies is required to ensure you feel confident in the role. However, further training will be provided.
