Overall Job Purpose

This role is responsible for preparing the accounting ledgers for our monthly reporting purposes; this includes the analysis of management and financial information for reporting to key stakeholders in the company business. The role is expected to maintain financial policies and the control framework, as well as provide a high-quality support service by liaising with management colleagues on all aspects of finance.

Accountabilities

Responsible for the financial month-end close to facilitate financial reporting;
Review of monthly expenses and accruals for the business;
Posting monthly journals to prepare the segmental P&L and Balance Sheet;
Review of daily and monthly reconciliations for the business;
Preparation and reporting of monthly financial performance pack for the business;
Assist in the preparation of Board and senior management reporting;
Assist with the monthly submission to Group for consolidation;
Prepare monthly analytical reviews and other financial metrics to facilitate management, statutory and board reporting;
Preparation and reporting of regulatory returns together with a monitoring framework to ensure the business maintains its minimum regulatory capital requirements;
Preparation and reporting of annual financial reports;
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, including data preparation, variance analysis and final reporting;
Review of third party advisor and franchise fee calculations;
Assist in the annual budget and periodic reforecasting cycles;
Assist in the periodic tax reporting requirements for the business;
Liaison with internal and external auditors during the annual audits;
Take ownership of expense management and liaise closely with the heads of departments and becoming a key point of contact for expense related queries.

Skills Required

Essential

Proven experience as management/financial accountant, or similar role
Solid knowledge of basic and advanced accounting and financial principles and practices
Working knowledge of financial software and MS Office
Exceptional interpersonal skills and able to successfully communicate with people at all levels, both financial and non-financial
Organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
Analytical mind and a problem-solver with attention to detail
Highly competent, with solid commercial acumen
BSc/BA in accounting, finance or similar field
Part/Fully qualified with ACA/ACCA/CIMA or other similar certifications
