Job Description

What will you be doing:
Review the quality and completeness of the design produced by the Clients AE's and ascertain its ability to be built in accordance with both the cost plan, schedule and site Health & Safety requirements
Audit the design and identify inconsistencies, discrepancies and missing information and record, report and track the close out of these items in an Information Required Schedule (IRS) format
Review design development regularly with the Commercial Manager to ensure design and commercial aspects are aligned. Keep a separate Open Items Schedule (OIS) to track design changes for each trade Contractor package from workshops or comments and use CVI forms in workshops if necessary
Provide input into Contractors Proposals (CP's) document for D&B projects
Attend site on a regular basis to ensure that the works are being constructed generally in accordance with the contract drawings, specifications and schedules
To support the delivery/construction team in the resolution of design related issues in a timely manner to prevent an adverse effect on the construction programme
To identify commercial opportunity during the design management and effectively communicate and manage this information to the benefit of ISG and ensure instructions are raised and received accordingly
To ensure that the latest innovation and technologies available are communicated throughout the teams and the functionality/viability is understood. The aim is to ensure that ISG Engineering Services remains at the forefront of technology and are considered market leaders
Run seminars and CPD training modules for internal engineering staff that require further technical experience in related engineering disciplines
Represent ISG on design related Forums/Groups that define industry standards, best practices etc.
You should also be able to display good time management and presentation skills and be confident when chairing meetings with both Clients and other design and construction professionals.
You should be self-motivated and willing to take the initiative and equally confident working alone or as part of a team and ideally possess a full understanding of data centre and or mission critical facility design and be able to integrate with the Clients design team.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of research and academic buildings such as scientific, data centres, life sciences and or medical Experience of highly serviced buildings including an understanding of the relationships of lab spaces and in particular: primary labs; direct support; write up areas; interactive spaces; etc. An ability to work with end users Experience of complex either room data sheets or room briefing sheets; From a mechanical and public health perspective ideally experience of clean environments, pressurised spaces, fume cupboards, medical gases, segregated waste systems and filtration. From an electrical perspective ideally experience of resilient power systems. Knowledge of electronic document management systems such as Conject (BIW), Aconex, etc. Thorough understanding of BIM Prior construction design and or design management experience or Architectural, Structural or M&E qualifications
