Job Description
The Role
We are looking for a motivated, technical and highly numerate individual to join British Land’s Financial Reporting team of c. 10 people. You will be taking responsibility for a number of areas of joint venture accounting and will report directly to the Joint Venture Reporting Manager. You will be responsible for a high profile joint venture held by BL, managing the finances of the venture as well as building and mainting a strong relationship with the JV partners. Working with a number of stakeholders across the business, including Tax, Company Secretariat and Company Directors is key to the role.
Key Responsibilities
- Day to day management of financial matters affecting the venture.
- Management accounts process, including co-ordination of information from internal sources (Treasury, Payment Operations, Tax, etc).
- Providing finance elements of the quarterly board pack and discussing at quarterly board meeting.
- Analysis of performance versus budget/forecast for Finance Business Partners and wider finance team.
- Calculation of the quarterly dividends/distributions to shareholders, and funding requirements. This involves jointly forecasting expenditure with the asset managers and property analysts, negotiation of funding approaches with Corporate Finance and JV partners, and presentation to the Board.
- Ad hoc analysis for both internal (BL) and external stakeholders. Role involves being the first point of contact for a number of people within BL regarding financial aspects of the venture.
- Preparation of joint venture statutory accounts, including all dislcosures and ensuring reviews from suitable stakeholders within the Tax and Treasury teams, Company Directors and auditors.
- Take responsibility for the preparation and completion of further statutory accounts as required.
- Other ad-hoc projects and contribution towards half year and year end BL group results within the wider reporting team.
Requirements
- Degree (2:1 or above) or equivalent qualification.
- Qualified Accountant (ICAEW or equivalent) with strong technical skills.
- Ability to communicate confidently with accountants and non-accountants, managing a number of stakeholders, including those significantly more senior.
- Comfortable taking on responsibility, whilst being effective working collaboratively.
- Quick learner, with strong problem solving skills.
- Excellent IT skills
