Job Description

We are looking for someone who has extensive experience in the Design, Operational and Regulatory aspects of the District Energy Industry. You will also have thorough knowledge of Industry Standards, Codes of Practice, Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements and related Legislation. 

Responsibilities will include -

  • Evaluating, planning, managing, approving and undertaking of plant and network designs and adoptions for projects
  • Ensure all generation plant and distribution network designs meet all operational requirements whilst minimising capital and operational requirements under strict SLA targets for return of design
  • Working in conjunction with the other Teams, develop site specific energy strategy and coordinate the design of energy centre and district heating and cooling projects
  • Working with the Engineering and Operations Managers Heat and Water, review all BUUK design software for the water, heat and cooling design, and implement Standards and Procedures
  • Working with Metropolitan Project Office and BUUK SHEQ team – Administer Lloyds/WIRS, ISO9001 & ISO14001 Compliance. Administration and hosting design audits to prove compliance and enable continued company accreditations
  • The Development of Policies and Procedures for design of Heat, Cooling and Water Distribution Networks, including the management of all software associated with design activities
  • Ensure all networks as designed in AUTOCAD for implementation by the construction department and all records are imported into the GIS asset database
  • Advise on innovation and how Heat, Cooling and Water networks can be improved to assist leakage, maintenance and repair activities as well as optimize output
  • Contribute towards guidance to other internal departments on heat and water related activities, particularly, but not limited to design, adoption, materials specifications, and other technical matters
  • Contributing towards the Regular review of technology to ensure compliance with Legislation, and to reduce capital and operating costs
  • Ensure compliance with current Water Industry, British & International standards, BU-UK and industry codes of practice and safety procedures
  • Active in assessing competencies to ensure persons involved in design activities whether in house or external to the Group are competent, meet the minimum requirements for qualifications and/or experience for the work
