Job Description
This role is part of the EMEA IT Organisation team providing financial support and control to the EMEA IT project teams.
The Project Accountant will role will be based in London with focused efforts in providing financial & business partnering for IT projects. A key aspect of this role is to drive strong financial controls and the ability to communicate effectively with both finance and the project teams.
Must also have a good eye for detail and ability to investigating and explain when the numbers aren’t as expected closely working with the EMEA DFO and PMO Lead
This role will also include the review and support of the overall EMEA Apptio Implementation, projects and expense within the P&L. It will involve developing the Plans, Forecast and 5 Year Strategy processes and timely communication of issues and changes to all EMEA, FP&A and COG stakeholders.
Assist the EMEA IT DFO and support them on improving processes and other adhoc projects.
The role holder will report initially to the EMEA IT PMO.
Key Responsibilities
- Overview of project budget information – proactively identifying risks and opportunities and communicating with both the Project Managers (PM) and Finance
- Close liaison with Project Management and Portfolio Leads to develop a greater understanding of Project Financials, and the Financial requirements
- Timely and quality submission of the EMEA IT spend, projects and expense forecast which will include preparation and review of analytical review commentary for the forecast reporting for the quarter ends and Full year for the ‘twice a quarter’ forecast cycle. This will involve close liaison with FP&A Teams, Project Managers, Business Owners and COG stakeholders.
- Work with the PM team to create monthly forecasts, plans etc in respect of cost and target dates for project delivery. Evidence and update through liaison with Project Management Clarity plans & forecasts
- Understand the costs in Project Management Clarity system (timesheets, 3rd party invoices, vendor costs)
- Understand and facilitate the task mapping in respect of Capital / Expense. Reporting on variances to plan / forecast in this respect, and creating a reforecasting model to reflect any changes
- Involvement and assistance in Governance Submissions
- Understand and report on Expense vs Capital plan and impact on future amortization
- Monthly reporting, supporting the annual and 5 year strategy plans
- Timely and quality submission of the monthly/ quarterly reports which include analysis and explanation of variances to plan, forecast and ITFD for distribution to EMEA Management
- Provide appropriate project information to be shared with Senior Management
- Reconciliation and management of Statement of works, project tool and supplier invoices
- Verify supplier invoices against plan/forecast and provide the correct project coding
- Challenge and police financial project reporting within budget
- Produce process notes and training for PM’s focusing on areas where errors occur
- Greater forecast and planning accuracy – reduction/removal of ‘financial surprises’
- Work with Development and Finance teams to accurately and collaboratively report the Financial Position on Projects
- Challenge the status quo, but ensure that the EMEA IT information requirement and COG stakeholders are met to enable them manage their expenses effectively. This will include proactively identifying areas of risk and opportunity within the EMEA IT expense base.

Qualifications
Knowledge & Experience
- Graduate accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA), with appropriate post qualification experience / Qualified by experience
- Commercial Acumen
- High level of analytical ability and process analysis
- Strong Systems and Excel knowledge
- High orientation to on-time delivery
- Proven record of meeting tight deadlines
- IT Finance FP&A experience
- Experience of dealing effectively with people at all levels (both financial & non financial)
