The organisation is the technical design authority for the transmission system. Engineering and Asset Management is the area within the company which facilitates that role through the development of technical standards and functional specifications for all plant to be connected to the transmission system and the development of new and innovative technologies and methodologies. In addition, the area is responsible for ensuring that the company’s requirements are incorporated in project design and construction whether the works are carried out by ESB Networks or by third parties.
The area is also responsible for Asset Management and maintenance of the transmission system by the development of policies and standards and the identification and prioritisation of maintenance and refurbishment activities. Engineering and Asset Management has a key role in the translation of identified system reinforcements, refurbishments and third party connections from conceptual stage through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting the Asset Management Team Lead with ISO 55001 readiness
Project Management ISO 55001 implementation
Development of new processes, policies and work instructions that are aligned to the ISO 55001 standard
Establishing an Asset Management System
Development of asset management plans
Consulting and engaging with other teams and departments including Finance and Legal, Operations, Planning and Innovation, HR and Corporate Services and External Affairs to ensure ISO deliverables are on track
The role will also require support with the development and management of the Annual Transmission System Maintenance Plan including corrective and preventive maintenance requirements for stations, lines and cables, ongoing prioritisation/deferral of maintenance and coordination with ESB Networks around outage durations and requirements within the framework of the Transmission Outage Planning Process.
Responding to day-to-day equipment plant issues and coordinating with ESB Networks to manage discovered work and actions following transmission system faults.
Project Management of selected Capital projects.
Reporting as required on all projects within area of responsibility.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Engineering degree or equivalent. A minimum of 2 years post qualification experience Good interpersonal skills with the ability to guide, persuade and influence others. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to provide innovative solutions to complex issues in a timely manner. Strong analytical and problem solving ability. Good project management skills. Self starter with the ability to develop and lead projects. Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Proficient in MS Office Packages including Project, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Word.
