Job Description

We are now recruiting for an On-Site IT Engineer to join our team based at our Head Office in Dalkeith, Midlothian. This role will ait the IT function with the management of hardware related services and assist with software delivery projects in the role of performing testing. Providing an on-site IT presence, and reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, this is a rare opportunity to join a growing business embarking on a digital transformation.

Although the role will primarily be based at our Head Office, visiting and supporting our other business locations in Glasgow, Dundee, Dumfries, and Newcastle will be required, and therefore the ability to drive is essential. This is a full-time position normally working 40 hours per week and paying a salary of £20,000 per annum.

Main Responsibilities of the On-Site IT Engineer:

  • Ensure IT stock is organised, well maintained and an accurate inventory is kept
  • Perform regular stock checks to ensure baseline levels of stock for all IT assets
  • Maintain an asset management database that is updated whenever items are assigned to users or returned
  • Working with the HR Department to ensure new starts have an efficient and effective onboarding process and provide basic training on IT functions
  • Setting up and configuring tablets and mobile devices for the various functions within the business such as driver tablets
  • Installation of network equipment such as routers, firewalls, and switches with the assistance of our remote network management company
  • Performing physical troubleshooting with employees across the business
  • Work with our Project Manager to provide hands on project assistance when required
  • Completion of software testing tasks

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of physical IT networking topologies such as routers, firewalls, switches, and patch panels Knowledge of desktop operating systems such as Windows 10 Familiar with using imaging technologies for setting up new desktop computers Organisational skills are essential for this role Have worked in an onsite IT role previously where plugging in and patching network equipment has been common Managed hardware assets and used an asset management system Working in a role where visiting offices and setting up of IT equipment and peripherals was commonplace Working with new users within the business to handover IT equipment and provided basic training.
