Job Description
  • Responsibility for the delivery of building physics services.
  • Responsibility for supporting the delivery of appropriate mechanical or electrical designs.

Reporting Relationships and Authority

  • The successful candidate will report to the Senior Sustainability Engineer.
  • The successful candidate has responsibility to work alongside staff in the Building Physics team
  • The job holder maybe required to deputise for the Senior Engineers, Associates or Directors, depending on the scale of the project.

Key Deliverables

Building Physics

  • Lead and develop the building physics team.
  • Work within the IESVE software to carry out the following:

o 3D model creation
o Daylight (FlucsDL) & BRE sunlight analysis
o Climate-based daylight modelling
o Operational in-use energy analysis (CIBSE TM54)
o Section 6 Building Regulations compliance check
o Thermal comfort analysis (CIBSE TM52 & TM59)
o Sector specific analysis (BB101 / SHTM 03-01)
o Future climate scenario analysis
o LZCT feasibility studies

  • Work closely with clients and design teams to provide optimal building design solutions through iterative and parametric simulations.

General

  • Work with the project team to develop a detailed brief of their mechanical and electrical building services requirements in relation to sustainability and energy efficiency measures and produce documentation which demonstrate clear understanding of the Client’s needs.
  • Conduct clear and detailed options appraisals and produce reports for the project team and Client, justifying the recommendations made to ensure client sign-off of brief.
  • Working together with colleagues to manage Rybka’s multidisciplinary offering, ensuring all internal aspects of the programme delivery are met.
  • Develop effective working relationships with the wider design team

(Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Structural and Civil Engineers, and others) to ensure the whole construction project delivers the client’s needs.

  • Ensure the successful completion of the physical construction of the project by monitoring and reviewing on-site activity to ensure progress and quality.
  • Maintain up-to-date industry knowledge of guidance, regulations, and standards.

Marketing

  • Promote Building Physics team by arranging external presentations and promoting Rybka’s offerings.
  • Contribute to internal Rybka Marketing Strategy
  • Build client relationships

Key Challenges

  • To deliver projects within clearly defined resources and timescales.
  • The requirement to work as part of a multidisciplinary team (internal and external members) and to effectively influence other building and engineering disciplines.

Qualifications

Graduate qualification in either building services, architectural engineering or sustainability related degree is essential.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Good working knowledge of IESVE software, preferably accredited. Experience of a range of construction projects. Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience of operating in an ISO9001 Quality Management System. Knowledge of Microsoft Office packages, including Excel and email. Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering systems. Appreciation and experience of the Technical Standards and relevant British Standards. Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and low carbon design. Knowledge of current planning legislative requirements. Knowledge of Passivhaus standards__ Understand of IES ApacheHVAC Knowledge of AutoCAD/Revit Experience in other simulation techniques such as SBEM and SAP. EPC Certification (incl. Section 6). Full UK Driving Licence__
