Job Description

The successful candidate will need to have an initial 4-week training period down in our Yorkshire office (travel and accommodation will be organised accordingly). They will then balance their time between our fast-paced Edinburgh design office, travelling to site surveys and client meetings across the country, and regularly visiting our Yorkshire Head Office.

A willingness to travel, meet clients and work seamlessly alongside our design and project management team is essential. This may on occasion require staying down in Yorkshire, and also involve early starts or late finishes as part and parcel of the role.

This is a full-time role, requiring between 3 and 5 years of strong relevant experience. The selected candidate will be office-based when in Edinburgh, working full-time alongside our Senior Lead Designer (Edinburgh based), and reporting to our Design Office Manager (Yorkshire based) daily.

This role will involve varied design work on medium to large sized projects across multiple jobs, working as part of the design team to keep each project moving forwards into manufacture.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- A relevant design-related Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, with a minimum of 3 years of working experience within a furniture design-related role. - A proven track record in the Furniture Design & Manufacture field is advantageous, with particular emphasis on the construction of bespoke furniture and the methodology involved in each build. - Strong communication skills and an ability to co-ordinate and adapt to a changing workload each week, with regular communication throughout the day with the Design Office Manager and Senior Lead Designer. - Be able to take instruction and understand that our process is collaborative, where others’ suggestions should be taken on board and considered. You will be required to constantly meet deadlines on a daily and weekly basis. - Capable of self-checking to look for errors and to share mistakes or missed opportunities as a learning tool to continually improve both yourself and the team. - To work as a collective and draw on the experience of our Senior Lead Designer - A strong foundation of SolidWorks experience, and knowledge of design related software such as Rhinoceros 3D, AutoCAD, DraftSight, Keyshot and Adobe Creative Suite alongside an understanding of Microsoft Office Suite - Ability to work through set tasks in a methodical and calm manner - Clear e-mail communication & good telephone manner - Full driving license and own vehicle An informal chat will first be organised with our Edinburgh based Senior Lead Designer.
