Job Description

A permanent post for an Administrative Officer for postgraduate medical training has become available within the Quality Unit of Health Education Improvement Wales (HEIW).
The post holder will have a key role in providing comprehensive and professional administrative and project support for HEIW education support and governance activities at the interface between postgraduate medical education and training and healthcare in Wales.
The post holder will also provide a key supporting role to the Trainee Progression Manager who manages the Trainee Progression Governance work stream and Director of Educational Improvement and Governance and Associate Dean (PGES and Improvement) to deliver across a number of work streams.
The role includes ensuring that HEIW can support the effective training of trainee doctors on specialist consultant training programmes. Activity will include supporting the Trainee Progression Governance function including the co-ordination and administration of Reviews and Appeals following the annual (ARCP) assessments of trainees’ performance and progression within secondary care, general practice and dental specialist training programmes.
The post holder will also be responsible for facilitating links with wider Quality Unit activity – for example, between trainee progression and Trainer roles. Additionally, the role will involve provision of administrative and project support for development of a range of postgraduate education support activities and projects that facilitate and support training and governance in Local Education Providers (NHS Wales Health Boards/Trusts).
