Job Description

As Design Engineer you will ensure that the conductor rail design is competently undertaken, with drawings and documentation delivered to the appropriate Colas Rail and Client standards, specifications and program constraints.

Key Objectives

• Produce allocated Permanent Way designs within agreed timescales and required quality
• Ensure that design, construction and maintenance risks are identified and mitigated during the design stages
• Ensure that required Temporary Non Compliances and Derogation to standards are sought
• Ensure Value Engineering through Particular Specification reviews
• Attend Inter-Disciplinary Checks and constructability reviews as directed
• Consult with Network Rail Gauging Engineer, Earthwork Engineer, Structural Engineer etc.
• Attend Inter-Disciplinary reviews as directed
• Carry out design checking
• Adequately communicate and explain designs to the construction teams

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Chartered engineer or working towards this. Knowledge of Conductor rail/ETE GRIP 3 to 5 design and engineering activities with a working knowledge of Network Rail standards. Proven experience of delivering design schemes within set budget and timescale.
