Job Description
  • Running Business Objects and SIMS reports as required to facilitate the production of student management information.
  • Liaising with colleagues in Programme Administration and collate other information to facilitate the production of student management information.
  • Supporting the Senior Management Information Officer in the production of all types of student management information.
  • Supporting the provision of such reports of the performance of individual students as might be specified by each educational contract.
  • Advising staff and students in relation to matters relating to student management information.
  • Monitoring the SIMS tasks to check student changes, action as appropriate liaising with all appropriate colleagues within the Education and Students teams.
  • Ensuring all applicable records are archived at the appropriate times and that records are destroyed according to the destruction schedule.
  • Liaising with Modules Leaders and Programme Managers to provide student data as required.
  • Ensuring that knowledge of policies and procedures is kept up-to-date and relevant to the provision of excellent customer service.
  • Deputizing for the Student Management Information Officer as required.
  • Act as main point of contact for production of overseas transcripts, liaising with the Programme Support team as required.
  • Ensuring that confidentiality is maintained when undertaking duties
  • Ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in respect of equality and diversity, data protection, copyright and licensing, security, financial and other University policies, procedures and codes.
  • Performing other duties which are not exhausted above, but which will be consistent with the role.
  • Taking reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, EC directives and the University’s Safety, Health and Environment Policies and procedures and to cooperate with the University on any legal duties placed on it as the employer
  • Demonstrating a genuine commitment to provide an excellent customer service whether to colleagues, students or external stakeholders.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
NVQ 2/ GCSE level A-C or equivalent. Significant experience of working with data in an office environment. Proficient in using common office IT packages (e.g. MS Office). Ability to set up standard administrative systems and procedures. Ability to work to a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of people. Ability to work as an effective team member, providing advice and guidance to other team members where necessary. Proven ability to deal with escalated requests for information or service, resolving customer issues where appropriate. Ability to plan, priorities and organize own workload within established time scales. Ability to use initiative in solving problems and responding to queries ensuring compliance with standard procedures and practices. A-Levels or equivalent. Experience of using and interrogating a student information management system. Experience of working in a Higher Education environment. Fluency in Welsh, written and oral.
