Job Description

 

Due to an expanding workload this engineering consultancy are seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Design Technician to join their practice in Leeds.

You will hold an HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or similar and be experience working under the supervision of a Senior Engineer. You will work as part of the Civils team responsible for the design, submission and approval for residential, educational, healthcare & commercial projects. You will have a good understanding of how to deliver infrastructure aspects of projects from a technical approval viewpoint.

You will be attending internal design review meetings , preparing simple calculations and producing drawings and construction details using Civils 3D
You will be supported in attending site visits and surveys by senior members of staff allowing you to contribute to providing solutions to design problems
You will be encouraged to keep your training log up to date and attend CPD/training events as they develop your career over the coming years.

You will need to be a confident communicator and have at least a number of years working in a similar role within an engineering consultancy working on UK developments.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Good knowledge of Drainage Design is key and experience of using AutoCAD, Civils 3D or PDS, and MicroDrainage software would also be favourably looked upon. Although full training is available on all software for the right candidate. Knowledge of all approval processes including Highways Section 38, 278 and Water Authority Section 104 technical agreements is also important.
