Our client is a highly acquisitive, private equity backed services business. The company is steeped in heritage, having existed for nearly two centuries. It has achieved impressive growth both organically and inorganically over the past few years, with the help of investors, and now boasts hundreds of sites internationally, several thousand employees and is one of the fastest growing businesses in its sector. As a result, they are looking to build out their Group Finance function with this newly created position to enable the business to support digitalisation, competitor acquisitions, and maintain best practice in an ever-changing market.

Description

The new Group Accountant will play an essential part in strengthening internal controls, improving efficiencies in the reporting process and handle any other ad hoc finance tasks, including M&A activity. They are moving away from the traditional Group Finance role of just churning out reports, instead moving towards a digitised, strategic and business relevant function. This means they want a team that is driving value, for example working on projects to deliver working capital efficiencies.The team is also developing an organisation-wide KPI dashboard which will be used by operations, sales & commercial and HR, as well as finance. They will be the owners of this, taking information off manual spreadsheets, and moving towards a system based process that helps the business achieve more meaningful and timely information for better strategic decision making. The Group Finance team is in a very privileged position in terms of exposure to senior management and a flat reporting hierarchy allows them to initiate and respond to changes quickly. All of the team members have very close interaction with the C-suite and Exec teams.

Skills

Our client is looking for an outstanding recently qualified accountant (ideally ACA or equivalent) with an excellent track record of achievement to date. You will be coming from a top ten professional services firm, where you’d benefit from familiarity with international consolidations. This role would suit someone looking for a first role in industry, specifically in a PE backed business, and equally it requires a'can do' mentality and ability to respond quickly to opportunities.
