Job Description

To provide a professional and high quality talent acquisition and succession service to support workforce and resourcing strategies, proactively undertaking recruitment, selection and promotion processes to reduce vacancies and contributing to the reduction in cost per hire.

  • To take roles out to the market, building effective relationships with suppliers, external agency partners and internal stakeholders as required to ensure timely communications and adherence to framework requirements and agreed KPIs.
  • To be responsible for day to day recruitment practices for all employee groups from request to appointment and onboarding including agreeing recruitment timeframes, providing media advice, preparing adverts, short listing and interview packs, coordinating recruitment checks and issuing contracts.
  • To complete peer checking to ensure legislative and policy compliance and accuracy.
  • To maintain effective communications and working relationships with all service users and members of the wider HR & OD department, assisting in the development of ASC’s workforce strategy by bringing a practitioner perspective to the process.
  • To work closely with key points of contacts within Directorates to manage the candidates’ experience and onboarding of potential employees to the point they start working for the Constabulary.
  • To be responsible for the accurate and timely input of data, ensuring all relevant databases are up to date to inform offers and organizational decision making.
  • To resolve issues at the earliest opportunity and if necessary escalate any issues that inhibit the availability to deliver a good quality service, identifying potential solutions and contributing to the development of new systems/processes and IT solutions.
  • To liaise as necessary with internal/external organizations in respect of recruitment, selection and promotion issues, right to work checks, vetting, College of Policing etc., ensuring all necessary mandatory requirements are complied with.
  • To collate, check and verify relevant employment histories and legal documents, communicating advice to individuals regarding terms and conditions, ensuring information is received and processed in a timely manner.
  • To work with colleagues across the HR and OD function, working collaboratively to promote the Constabulary in communities, this will include attendance at careers events and workshop to build community engagement.
  • To monitor succession plans to establish allocation of postings so that the resourcing aligns to operational demand.
  • To compile ad hoc statistical information as requested.
  • To support force secondment processes, regularly liaising with individuals and host organizations regarding contractual terms and discrepancies, to ensure a smooth transition between organizations and potential extensions.
  • To maintain own professional knowledge and make recommendations on initiatives that could improve the service.
  • To work co-operatively with colleagues to contribute positively to the achievement of organization objectives and to undertake any other HR work as directed, including working at different locations, in order to provide business continuity and to enable the HR team as a whole to fulfil Constabulary-wide needs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Your recent UK working experience going back at least 5 years, or full employment history if you have been working for fewer years than this. Your availability to work either immediately, or at short notice. Experience of working in a HR, Recruitment or Administration role. Proven ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail to include proven experience of maintaining and monitoring accurate data. Ability to work to deadlines and meet competing demands. Proven ability to manage workload with minimal supervision. Experience of delivering a customer focused service. Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages.
