Job Description

A major City based Insurance Group seeks a Senior Financial Accountant with extensive expertise of general accounting (IFRS, UK GAAP, UK Statutory Accounting) and demonstrable high performance, knowledge of a group reporting processes. You will have sound knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, liquidity and cash management and internal controls principles, working knowledge and experience of SAP (in particular CO, GT and ECON) and SAP BW. Experience in guiding and supervising staff in a financial department. Experienced in communicating to senior management, internal and external clients.

MS Word, MS Power-point and MS Excel, including lookups, pivot tables etc.

The role is to be responsible Senior for the financial accounting and reporting area and processes

To manage the compilation of the Financial Statements (Management Accounts) for all business units on a quarterly basis, both IFRS and UKGAAP

To fulfil Group reporting requirements, processes and deadlines (including the Inter-companies’ reconciliation) on a quarterly basis for IFRS and Solvency II

To be responsible for the data quality and the related quality assurance and achieve outstanding performance results

To coordinate the production of the Board Report and the finance deliverables for the CFO Report, forecast, actuals, plan and inter-company data to Group centre on the Group’s consolidation system on a quarterly basis (IFRS)

Provide forecasted data to enable the Tax team to calculate taxes on a quarterly basis (IFRS, UK GAAP)

Prepare Solvency II quarterly reporting

Review and be responsible for the Audit Files on a quarterly basis

Manage and liaise with external auditors and internal auditors based on the respective alignments with the relevant bodies to enable a smooth statutory audit

Be responsible for the preparation of prepayments and accruals on a quarterly basis

Be responsible and manage the implementation and application of new accounting standards (e.g. IFRS 9, IFRS 16 or FRS 102) and further Group reporting requirements

Manage the Fixed Asset accounting

Review and quality assure the Pension accounting

Lead and guide the Financial Reporting Team

Liaise closely and arrange with the AP and Cost reporting team for reporting purposes

Present and explain financial results and business performance to senior management and Board

Enhance existing reporting processes, establish a stable and reliant interface management and raise efficiencies

Support the reinsurance technical accounting and reporting and Tax UK teams

Support senior management in further developing and implementing the Finance UK strategy
