Job Description

We require an experienced individual to assist in the design and detailing of highway drainage works associated with a variety of major and challenging infrastructure projects for the private and public sector, across a range of development sectors.

Projects typically range in size from £1m to £100m schemes covering inter alia defence, transport, infrastructure, healthcare, education, commercial, industrial and residential development.

The role will involve the preparation of general arrangement and detail drawings under the guidance of the Engineers, working within the company CAD standards, procedures and document controls, site inspections and surveys, and providing support to the engineering team.

Whilst based in Leeds or Manchester, the projects are UK wide and some travel would be expected on occasion, include working outside normal office hours.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
An enthusiastic civil engineering technician who likes a challenge. BTEC in Engineering or Construction related discipline. 2D and 3D Draughting software using AutoCAD and Civil 3D software. Project experience as a technician within an engineering practice / environment. Ability to produce accurate and well-presented CAD documents in accordance with briefings from engineering staff. To understand and create sections and details from general arrangement plans. Knowledge and experience of all common building materials and details. Taken ownership of own projects and undertaken some coordination of works. Knowledge of BIM co-ordination on projects. Experience of Project Extranets and document control procedures. Familiarity with 3D Clash detection using Navisworks. Experience of working with Statutory Authorities and procedures. Good interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently, a collaborative approach and a proven ability to deliver work on time. Commitment to encouraging good health and safety practices within the workplace and within design. Team player displaying enthusiasm, flexibility and versatility. Have a desire to build upon your existing experience, continuing your professional development with WYG. Hold a full UK Driving License. Security Clearance to minimum SC level preferable (or be suitable and willing to apply for clearance essential).
