Job Description

The focus will be on developing existing skills and experience and sharing this experience with other team members, in a stimulating and testing project environment, and so enhancing Arup’s overall electrification engineering and rail capability.

Reporting to our Lineside Electrical Team Leader and supported by our discipline Technical Head, you will work with project teams of Railway and Infrastructure Engineers at bid and project delivery stage. You will also develop relationships with our wider electrical and rail communities and our client’s engineering, assurance and project teams.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in the production and self-checking of E&P Lineside Electricial Feasibility, Scheme and Detailed Design reports, layouts, schematics and calculations (including Points Heating, 650V Signalling Power, Domestic Power Supplies, Earthing and Bonding) within multidisciplinary rail projects. Competent in the production of drawings using CAD (e.g. Bentley MicroStation) software. Competent in the use of calculation software (e.g. Amtech and ETAP). Experience in undertaking site surveys / site visits and reporting on asset condition. Experience of construction methods and installation. Knowledge of HV (e.g. 6.6kV and 11kV) and other railway systems. Knowledge and experience in the lighting of railway infrastructure (e.g. Depots, Level Crossings, Station platforms etc.) An appropriate degree or equivalent qualification. Ideally, an associate member of the IET. Working toward Chartered Engineer with the IET or similar would be an advantage.
