Job Description

We are currently hiring an experienced, fully qualified Accountant to join our busy team. With a focus on European Financial Reporting, you will be responsible for supporting the LGIM Europe Financial Controller in ensuring that LGIM Managers Europe Limited (LGIM Europe), LGIM Europe’s established branch network and LGIM Limited’s and PMC’s establish branch networks outside the UK, embed and maintain a robust financial control framework and that all financial reporting and tax obligations are completed efficiently, in line with applicable accounting standards and rules in their respective countries.

  • Working closely with LGIM Finance Operations in Cardiff to ensure that the legal entity and branch ledgers are maintained effectively in line with applicable accounting standards.
  • Ensuring revenues and costs are booked accurately, and that account structures continue to be pertinent to facilitate the effective production of the LGIM Europe and established branch network financial reporting requirements. In the short term, this accountability will include the set-up of new ledger structures to support a more robust financial reporting infrastructure for our branch network.
  • Assisting in the production of timely and accurate financial and regulatory reporting both internally and externally, including reporting for the LGIM Europe Board as well as audited statutory accounts and CBI financial and capital returns.
  • Liaising with the external auditors, as necessary, to ensure that any required independent audit requirements are satisfied in an efficient manner.
  • Assisting in the timely and accurate financial and tax reporting for the LGIM Europe, LGIM Limited and PMC branch network, including regular reconciliations between LGIM ledgers and separate record maintained by our outsourced tax provider, EY.
  • Contributing to the effective maintenance of LGIM’s overall financial control framework by maintaining strong oversight over LGIM Europe’s balance sheet (including intercompany balances) and cashbook, ensuring that any issues are identified and investigated appropriately. This will involve interaction with teams across the wider LGIM Finance.
  • Supporting the LGIM Europe Financial Controller in monitoring the capital and liquidity position of the LGIM Europe entity to ensure prudential requirements are adhered to at all times and that capital and cash positions are optimized.
  • Ensuring regular forecasts are prepared, excess capital and cash is returned to LGIMH on a timely basis, and the company’s credit and liquidity risks are effectively articulated and managed.
  • In conjunction with the Group Tax team, ensuring taxes (including corporation tax and VAT) are accounted for accurately in the LGIM Europe and branch ledgers. This will include the preparation of tax computations where LGIM Europe and LGIM Limited/PMC establish tax branches outside of Ireland and the UK.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
A qualified accountant with post qualification experience in a finance or control environment. Experience of how to assemble and interpret financial reporting. Prior experience of financial systems. Knowledge of using Excel to analyze financial information. Strong written and verbal communication skills. A willingness to share views and findings with other team members and a desire to take an active role in discussions with management. The ability to manage a variety of different deliverables concurrently. The initiative to work independently to develop and enhance processes and to identify, investigate and resolve issues.
