Job Description

Our Finance team in Cardiff have a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to make a real difference and re-engineer the way we work. We’d love to hear from qualified accountants who have managed projects previously and if you have experience in lean or six sigma that would be even better!

What you'll be doing

Projects

You’ll lead the creation, development and integration of relevant systems and change to support the team with projects, in particular act as the main liaison with the relevant programme teams.

Process Reviews

You’ll lead the review of the existing financial reporting processes in conjunction with the BAU teams, to identify opportunities for rationalization, automation and improvements which will enhance controls, remove duplication and increase efficiency, while still meeting the demands of the Accounting Operations timetable.

Business Partnering

You’ll lead the relationships and engagement with internal and external customers and stakeholders to ensure that roles and responsibilities are clearly defined and that process efficiencies are delivered. To lead regular reviews with all of the key stakeholders involved in the FRS and IFRS17 workstreams on behalf of Accounting Operations

Reconciliations.

You’ll work with the existing BAU and project teams to ensure that the integrity of existing policyholder reconciliations are not impacted by proposed changes, while working with the programmes to build any additional requirements resulting from IFRS17 in particular.

Financial Controls.

You’ll maintain and monitor robust financial controls in compliance with Group Standards, statutory and regulatory requirements and the risk and control framework, including liaison with Group Internal Audit and external auditors.

People Management.

You’ll manage, motivate and develop employees at all levels, in a manner that is consistent with the Company’s policies and procedures including the Partnership Agreement, to maximise the performance of the area.

Financial Reporting.

You’ll oversee and review the accurate and timely preparation of the monthly financial / management accounts, related revenue, balance sheet, tax or other regulatory returns in accordance with Accounting Operations timetables.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
You’ll be a qualified accountant with a number of years’ experience within a Finance environment. You’ll ideally have advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including excel, word and PowerPoint. You’ll have detailed experience of working on a core accounting system and reviewing trial balances and reconciliations. You’ll be an experienced people manager able to demonstrate positive performance management. You’ll have experience of working in change accounting and process improvement environment. You’ll have an ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of staff throughout the business and will lead meetings. The ability to listen to others and challenge to ensure understanding of their viewpoint. You’ll have excellent attention to detail and able to work accurately to tight deadlines. Performs inbuilt reconciliations and can identify errors in outputs. You’ll have good analytical and problem solving skills, with an ability to review the work of others and identify process improvement opportunities. You’ll proactively seek solutions to problems and challenges existing processes and suggest improvements. Sets objectives and ensures aims and timescales for delivery are clearly understood. You’ll use evidence, knowledge and experience to exercise judgment, while retaining control integrity. You’ll build and develop strong relationships at all levels within Finance Reporting & Operations, as well as leading business partnering with senior stakeholders within the product divisions.
