Reporting direct to the Finance Director and covering all three trading group companies, the responsibilities of this role include:
Overseeing and involvement with the preparation of monthly Management Accounts including journal preparation and posting and balance sheet and intercompany account reconciliation
Undertaking detailed variance analysis with comparisons to previous months and to budgets
Undertaking monthly reviews of margins by customer and by product and taking appropriate action where exceptions identified
Assisting the Finance Director with consolidated group reporting as required
Supervising the work of the finance team including ensuring monthly bill run happens in a timely manner, ensuring credit control and other internal finance procedures are followed and covering for the finance team in cases of illness or absence
Line management responsibilities for the finance team including undertaking reviews and inductions as necessary
Primary responsibility for all group payrolls including reviewing commission claims, handling company car information, and dealing with end of tax year reporting requirements
Preparation of VAT returns for all group companies for Finance Director review
Supporting the Finance Director to manage cash flow on a monthly and annual rolling basis
Assisting the Finance Director in the preparation of the annual group budget
Assisting the Finance Director in the preparation of all group company’s statutory accounts including liaising with the company’s accountants
Managing the financial relationship with key customers and suppliers including liaison with external senior finance staff and acting as an escalation point for credit control matters
Attending management meetings to report on finance team performance and to update other managers with relevant matters
Continual review of processes and systems including creating and updating systems documentation
Supporting the Finance Director on other statutory, legal and adhoc tasks as required

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
For this role, the ideal candidate will be highly personable with excellent organisation and communication skills. They will need to be hard-working, have strong numerical skills and be able to work to tight deadlines. They will also be confident to work successfully as part of a team as well as to lead and they must have a flexible attitude to react to demands placed on them as required. The candidate will be required to be highly IT literate with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel (incorporating strong data analysis skills) and a working knowledge of other MS Office products. You must be flexible and adapt at working with various financial and non-financial software. Experience of working with Sage50 Accounts and Xero as well as IT/Telecoms industry experience is preferred but not essential.
