Job Description

The main function of the role is to engineer the Substation Control Systems design and configuration for electrical HV substation projects.

On a day to day basis you will be responsible for:

• Expected be able to undertake design work relating directly to the Substation Control Systems design sector with the ability to produce and implement the requirements of the configuration works
• Expected to be able to understand and produce I/O schedules accurately
• Expected to be able to undertake all aspects of configuration works, including the production of system graphics
• Expected to be able to produce Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) documentation for the Substation Control System and have the ability to fully test and perform client witness testing using both hardware and software
• Expected to undertake Control Systems design work on both the SAS 2000 & GE systems, or any other installed by Balfour Beatty
• Expected to be able to attend site for client DSS’s, commissioning relating to the Control Systems and hold the Commissioning Passport
• Expected to work as part of the SSSC team as an On-Call engineer, if required

Please note this position is predominantly office based, but occasional travel may be required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Holds HNC degree or higher in Electrical Engineering Experience in Substation Control Systems Knowledge of IEC 60870-5-101 protocol is essential Knowledge of SAS 2000 & GE Control Systems desirable General knowledge of IEC 61850 protocol would be advantageous Familiar with quality assurance, business processes and applications Possess excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills Expected to have a background working in the Substation Control System design sector with the ability to understand and implement the requirements of Substation Control System configuration works Expected to have prior knowledge and experience of IO schedules and the production of these Expected to have prior involvement in Control System testing, configuration & site installation Must work well and confidently both individually and as part of a team Must work well under pressure and to deadlines
