Job Description

We are recruiting for an experienced M&E Senior Project Manager (B&D) to work on major hospital projects predominantly in the North of England but extending to the South as required. The successful candidate will have proven experience working on multi discipline M&E projects, with a Mechanical Engineering Services background and a good knowledge of Electrical Engineering and general construction processes including planning applications, building regulations and the appropriate standards applicable to a variety of diverse projects. Knowledge of building fabric projects and architecture will also be an advantage.

You must be experienced in working on design and build projects on live operational sites, including leading the design stage as well as construction for critical engineering systems where retention of resilience is required, ideally you will also have hands-on experience operation and maintenance of engineering systems.

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the delivery of Energy Performance Contracts (EPCs) across their lifecycle covering audit, design, construction and measurement and verification (M&V). They will be supported by a multi-disciplinary team at the various stages of the process including Energy Engineers, M&E Designers, Construction Managers and M&V Analysts. The Senior Project Manager (B&D) reports to the Operations Director.

Key skillsets required: Energy efficiency, M&E design knowledge and construction.

· Full compliance with Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards.

· Satisfactory discharge of Breathe’s CDM obligations as a Principal Contractor, working with the Principal Designer.

· Own the project budget and P&L at each stage of the delivery to achieve the agreed targets including planning and adjusting of manpower levels as appropriate.

· Ensure the technical solution and energy savings can be achieved without detriment to Breathe’s guarantee.

· Selection and appointment of external consultants and managing and monitoring their performance.

· Managing the asbestos information and controlling the risk.

· Responsibility for development and preparation of the IGA including detailed energy and operational savings calculations, financial and energy modelling, economic analysis, energy systems specification and conceptualisation.

· Identify, monitor, mitigate and manage project and operational risks and ensure the designs comply with all relevant regulations and guidance.

· Review or produce the tender specifications and liaise with the Breathe Commercial team who will manage the procurement process including supporting the tender evaluation process.

· Ensure handover and commissioning processes are in place and that they support the M&V and guarantee requirements.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· BSc or BEng Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a mechanical engineering services background with a good knowledge of electrical engineering and general construction processes. · Comprehensive understanding of energy and carbon reduction across large commercial and industrial sites including healthcare is a must and a knowledge of building fabric projects would be advantageous. · Working on live operational sites, often with critical engineering systems where retention of resilience is required. · Commercially astute with proven construction management as a Principal Contractor, ideally with knowledge of industry standard contracts such as NEC or JCT.
