JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Review of all VAT reports for EMEA entities
- Re-engineer legacy manual processes for all VAT returns and ensure they are compliant with corporate end user computer tools (EUCT) standards.
- Standardizing the documentation for the VAT reporting and managing the periodic updates and reviews of those documents. Ensuring the documentation fits the GnO (Governance and Oversight) framework.
- Assist with monthly & quarterly VAT, Tax and management reporting required by local regulatory bodies in region (EMEA).
- Document business line functions and processes. Providing an overview of each business line objectives and trading activity.
- Trace trades from front office systems to back office and ultimately VAT returns to ensure completeness and accuracy of data.
- Put in place a finance Business Risk Review (BRR) process. Review requirements and identify any potential gaps or areas of concern in adopting the guidelines. Liaise with tax department to ensure that both tax and controllers are aligned on the BRR requirements. Provide extra support if/when the tax officer visits the office.
- Review of the Payment Practice Reporting (PPR) to ensure accurate and timely reporting. Assist with communication to other business divisions who have not paid suppliers on time.
- Ensure the department meet the Business Continuity Planning (BCP) requirements as set out by the COO office.
- Review and file the Quality Control Assurance (QCA) document, which highlights to senior management significant changes that occurred during the group’s most recent fiscal quarter that have materially affected, or are reasonably likely to materially affect, the group’s internal control over financial and regulatory reporting
- Oversee the preparation and filing of the Balance sheet attestation, the ageing, the finance management reporting pack and the funding journals
- Work with stakeholders to embed good governance (SAO, HMRC BRR, etc.)
- Supporting the Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) to ensure all accountabilities and responsibilities are addressed. Ensure we can evidence that all requirements in the SAO guidelines have been met.
- Provide leave of absence cover for the production of other deliverables within the department as appropriate in order to satisfy internal control framework requirements.
- Deputize as required for the Controller of the team.
- In addition to these functions, employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required.
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
- Financial control and VAT experience is essential.
- Previous audit experience would be beneficial but is not essential
- Strong academic background and degree educated.
- Banking or financial services industry experience.
- Self-motivated and self-starter with the ability to drive results and work independently within a team structure.
- Able to manage and drive a small team, and/or being part of a small reporting team
- Honesty and integrity in all aspects of their work.
- Intuitive; Fast leaner with good problem solving skills.
- Good time management & organisational skills.
