Job Description

In addition to the above the Energy Manager will also identify water efficiency and low-carbon technologies, project development and delivery and consultancy support. Consultancy services will also include support to design reviews, commissioning and handover support as well as post-occupancy-evaluations. Further support will be provided to other areas of compliance, including ESOS, SECR, ISO50001 and measurement and verification (M&V) activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the Health and Safety of any direct reports, consultants and sub-contractors working under the instruction of amber energy, in line with central amber energy policies, processes and guidance
  • Support our customers to define their energy management strategy (costs, savings, carbon reduction, etc.) and identify valid improvement projects that deliver benefits to our customers
  • Personal and professional development plans should be put in place and progress monitored
  • Contributing to the team to shape a successful portfolio of projects to enable efficient continual delivery
  • Accountable for the successful delivery of all projects to time, cost and quality
  • Define project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; organize and lead project status and working meetings; prepare and distribute progress reports; manage risks and issues; correct deviations from plans; lead decision making forums and perform delivery planning for assigned projects
  • Provide full costing for all work to be delivered as part of quotes/SLAs ensuring it is updated through change control
  • Provide regular pro-active status updates on projects moving through requirement and solution stages

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent understanding of principles of energy management, building services and related controls. Proven experience of undertaking investment grade energy audits and business case development. ESOS Lead Assessor. Good understanding of ISO50001 Energy Management Systems standard. Good understanding of current compliance and legislation requirements, including ESOS and SECR. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong statistical and analytical understanding. Flexible and agile to meet changing client and internal requirements. Ability to manage workload to ensure delivery within time frames and budget. Good commercial awareness. Ability to manage sub-contractor relations. Outstanding presentational and written skills. Excellent communicator both written and verbal. IT literate in MS Office and systems management software, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook. Holder of a full and valid driving license. Strong team player willing to get involved with a wide variety of tasks and activities. Ability to work independently to high standard with attention to detail. Dynamic and able to adapt and deliver under high pressure and with limited information. Chartered/Certified status of appropriate professional body (CIBSE, AEE and Energy Institute preferred). Degree level (or higher) qualification in energy, carbon or related subject. Understanding of the International Performance Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP). ISO50001 Energy Management Systems Lead Auditor.
