Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities of the Senior Accountant;

* The Senior Accountant will ensure that management accounts are produced in a timely manner
* Present Balance Sheets to the senior management and own the reconciliations and audits
* Managing a team of 4, including staff management, 121s and personal development plans
* Manage the month end close process, ensuring the ledgers are all closed to strict deadlines
* Supporting the FBP providing all information required to report management accounts, forecasting & Budgeting.
* Produce balance sheet reconciliations accurately and in a timely manner, including review and sign off
* Produce the Balance Sheet Reporting Pack for review and sign-off with the Group FD and CFO
* Developing the finance team and managing internal and external relationships
* Presentation of the Management Accounts to the FBP in accordance with accounting timetables
* Managing the resource in the team to meet conflicting deadlines.
* Staff management and driving continual improvement within the team and the business.
* The role will play a key role in the leadership of the accounting team and also within the overall shared services operation ensuring it is as effective, and as efficient, as possible.
Knowledge & Experience;
* Significant experience of managing a team and working in a similar environment.
* Extensive knowledge of the full month end close and reporting process
* Experience of managing through a changing environment is preferred (end to end change management).
* Very strong focus on accounting accuracy, integrity and completeness
* Significant experience of Oracle or similar ERP systems, advanced Excel


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
* The ideal candidate will be Qualified CIMA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent * Effective written and verbal communication and organisational skills * Able to liaise effectively with all staff * Able to devise and oversee work programmes to ensure delivery of objectives to tight deadlines while maintaining quality and effectiveness * Good understanding of accounting principles * Excellent problem-solving and data analysis skills * Excellent IT skills, particularly in the use of financial information systems and spreadsheets, including ability to understand and manipulate complex spreadsheet models * Able to lead by example motivate staff and delegate tasks and responsibilities effectively.
