Job Description

The successful candidate will be Part-Qualified or QBE and have experience working with Neptune or other large ERP systems. You will very good at churning large amounts of financial data and be a confident Excel user. Previous system implementation experience or business change involvement would be an advantage.
The jobholder will be supporting the Senior Financial Projects Manager on all key projects within Finance in order to drive best practice and systems and process optimisation. Developing all aspects of reporting to provide clear and insightful variance analysis to enable timely decision making within Operations that drive performance. You will liaise with the Business Facing teams, Overhead departments, The Group Neptune (SAP) team, the SAP Shared Service Team.
Key Tasks
- Assisting in all key projects where finance support is required
- Assisting with the finance project lifecycle and project business cases
- Assisting in budgeting, forecasting, and actuals of the project
- Ensuring all benefits are realised and tracked
- Working closely with other departments and group companies to successfully complete projects
Key outputs/deliverables will be for the Defence BU:
- Preparing the monthly reporting pack of all projects and their status
- Supporting the monthly reporting of the project financials and review appropriately with the key stakeholders
- Assist with the creation, management & delivery of a suite of Management and Project reporting across all Operating Units within Defence ensuring all key variances to budget and latest forecast can be analysed.
- Support the Senior Financial Accounting Manager with the Finance policy manual and instil best practice across the BU
- Work with Heads of Finance to drive finance improvement across the BU ensure standardisation and consistency across all sites and contracts
- Support the financial workstream for system change projects e.g. Neptune (SAP project).
- Support the financial workstream for restructuring projects and provide support to other departments.
- Analyse large volumes of data (finance and non finance) and provide recommendations


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Effective team member with good listening skills and ability to adapt to changing circumstances. - Strong communication skills, both written and verbal - Creation, collation, analysis and presentation of management data and production of related management plans. - Experience of introducing operational and financial performance measurement systems, process KPIs and metrics - Ability to understand and manipulate data to present clear and concise financial messages for review. - Ability to ensure deadlines and targets are achieved or surpassed. - Experience in working positively with Operational areas and realising business improvements. - Experience of working as part of a multi -disciplined team to improve existing reporting and add new reports. - Ability to develop strong relationships quickly - Extensive experience in the use of Microsoft Office 2010 suite of applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio and Outlook. - Experience of Finance IT applications (e.g. SAP, NAV (Navision, IFS etc.) - Ability to work with minimum supervision and engage effectively with all Business Unit stakeholders. - Self-starter able to define and satisfy the demands of stakeholders and customers of the process through consolidation of information, interpretation of the results and the presentation of the results in a manner that supports and challenges the business. - Adopts a customer-centric approach to delivery of service. - A demonstrable team player with an ability to help motivate those working with them. - Ability to work effectively under pressure. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ensure adherence to defined processes and work instructions. - Demonstrate an ability to identify issues faced and to find solutions to those issues pro-actively. - Excellent time management skills. - Ability to identify trends from information available from multiple sources and to listen to the feedback from customers and staff. - Data analysis skills in support of a continuous improvement operating model.
