Job Description
  • Lead major staff restructure to support organisational change.
  • Develop approaches to new, flexible ways of working moving into 2021.
  • Provide professional and timely advice and guidance to staff, line managers and senior volunteers on people issues, including overseeing any disciplinary and grievance proceedings.
  • Develop, implement and review HR policies, procedures and guidance documents, ensuring legal compliance and best practice.
  • Support managers in maximising staff performance by overseeing induction, supervision, appraisal systems and attendance levels.
  • Develop and implement robust and fair recruitment systems and processes across the organisation, including managing recruitment processes end-to-end.
  • Review and manage the job evaluation system, salary structure, terms and conditions and employee benefits.
  • Work with the Training Manager to identify, develop and implement staff training programmes.
  • Oversee the management of staff information and produce effective reports for the board on headcount, recruitment, sickness, turnover and performance, with recommendations for improvements.
  • Support payroll to ensure that all staff additions and changes are implemented in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Develop the charity's approach to employee well-being and Health and Safety.
  • Take corporate responsibility for the people elements of equality, diversity and inclusion.

Job Offer

January 2021 start

6 month FTC contract

Salary c.£60,000


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Standalone HR experience at a senior level, with the ability and appetite to operate at all levels within an HR capacity. Established track record of leading major organisational change. Experience working with volunteers within an HR/People role. Experience of developing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion strategies. Sound and topical understanding of employment law and best practice. Strong organisational, planning and time management skills. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop good and effective working relationships and collaborative partnerships at all levels. Empathy and sensitivity to the differing needs of a small yet complex organisation. Postgraduate qualification and CIPD Level 7 preferred, or relevant experience with evidence of continuing professional development
