Job Description

Job Duties

  • Undertake civil infrastructure design with appropriate training and supervision.
  • Understand and play an active part in the project assurance process, taking part in technical / quality / design / safety reviews.
  • Provide a client focused service which results in on-going satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Build effective relationships within teams, across the organisation.
  • Take a proactive approach to developing your own skills and those of others.
  • Provide guidance to entry level engineers.
  • Assist with project management and fee proposals, to build upon your knowledge to enable you to lead projects with progression.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in UK development related infrastructure engineering. Excellent interpersonal skills, using these to develop and maintain a good working relationship with colleagues and external clients where required. Sound problem solving skills, accountability for assigned work, and solid written and verbal communication skills. A proactive approach to continuing professional development. Knowledge and application of drainage design from first principles, including piped systems, SuDS based systems and familiarity with storage design and computer programs such as MicroDrainage. Experience of designing drainage and writing flood risk assessments for development projects. An understanding of the corresponding relevant standards and design guidance. A blend of experience in some of the following aspects of the design of infrastructure for development projects: road geometry/access, public realm, earthworks, pavements and services. Awareness and understanding of BIM and coordinated 3D design and familiarity with computer programs such as Civil 3D and Navisworks. A degree or equivalent in civil engineering.
