Job Description

Permanent Full-time position – Monday – Friday 37.50 Hours per week
Due to successive growth of the company we are looking to recruit a hybrid payroll / accounts assistant. You will be involved in managing and developing the payroll function of the business, as well as looking for opportunities to demonstrate the high service level we offer. A competitive salary and development opportunities will be available for the right candidate. Previous practice experience is favorable. During the current situation the role will be a mixture of office and homeworking following initial training, with an ongoing review of this to be monitored. Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

  • Liaising with clients to collate payroll information.
  • Processing of weekly, fortnightly and monthly payroll.
  • Inputting and calculation of statutory payments and holidays.
  • Processing starters and leavers.
  • Submitting payroll information to HMRC and pension providers.
  • Dealing with ad hoc queries.
  • Monthly CIS submissions.
  • Reconciliation of PAYE payments.

Accounts assistant role:

  • Preparation of accounts working papers.
  • Undertake general bookkeeping duties on behalf of clients.
  • Preparation of VAT Returns.
  • Preparation of statutory documents.
  • General administrative duties.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Basic knowledge of taxes, in particular payroll and CIS. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Self-managing, organized and able to work under pressure. Ability to work within a team environment and remotely, due to the current circumstances. Proficient in the use of MS Office, particularly Excel. Ability to priorities and work to tight deadlines. Possess a ‘can do’ attitude and retain a sense of humor when under pressure. Car owner with the ability and willingness to travel on behalf of the company. Experience of Cloud based software including Xero, QuickBooks & Sage. At least 2 years payroll experience.
