An exciting new position has opened in the finance department. We are recruiting for Head of Finance; the post holder will be responsible for the accurate reporting of financial performance at both site and company level.
This position will be based in Swansea – Office based
Main Responsibilities
To lead on the year-end process and the preparation of the annual accounts and other statutory returns in line with the Charities SORP.
Responsible for the maintenance of the integrity of the trusts finance systems to ensure strong systems of controls are in place. This will include ensuring that all Finance Policies are current and being adhered to.
In conjunction with the Financial Controller, ensure that the monthly close-down process is completed on time and in an accurate manner.
Responsible for the production of the monthly management accounts and supporting packs for all sites and head office. To hold individual monthly financial review meetings with the Hospital Directors, Home Managers and Head Office senior managers.
Responsible for the prompt calculation of the HSBC Financial Covenant Ratios, immediately highlighting any concerns to CFO.
To work with the CFO in the production of the monthly financial report for the Board and OLMB.
To ensure that all financial returns for the Trust are filed accurately and on-time, including pension returns, VAT returns.
Manage the cash flow position for the Trust.
Lead the budgeting process, developing the model and approach so that it is fit for purpose and allows for the building of the budget on a bottom-up basis, working closely with key stakeholders to ensure there is engagement and buy-in to the budget targets.
To work with HR in establishing and maintaining the Staff Establishment Budget to include roles, hours etc.
To be responsible for the maintenance of the chart of accounts.
Lead and develop the two Hospital Finance and Commercial Managers to ensure are equally able to support their hospital in a similar way.
To work with the Internal Auditor in ensuring that the programme of work is carried and that any identified deficiencies in process or practices are corrected in a timely manner.
In conjunction with the Financial Controller, provide support to the annual audit, forging effective relationships with the auditors, provision of supporting schedules and resolution of any audit points.
Provide leadership across the broader finance teams alongside the CFO.
To deputies in the absence of the CFO.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Qualified accountant with at least 6 years post qualification experience. Hands-on’ approach and flexible ‘can do’ proactive attitude. Must be able to work collaboratively with a wide range of staff. Effective communication skills. Line Management experience. Approachable, and calm under pressure. Able to priorities effectively and manage conflict and competing interest groups. Focused on getting the job done effectively and efficiently whilst keeping others on side. Ability to identify and solve problems and think creatively. A sound knowledge of accounting principles and best practice. Good verbal, written and numerical skills and a high level of computer literacy, including a -proficient use of Microsoft Office.
