Job Description

The successful candidate will be expected to provide sound assurance and advisory services in a range of high-risk areas, and lead on the design and delivery of detailed system, financial and investigative audits. You will be able to work to strict deadlines with minimum supervision, and effectively supervise a small team of auditors. You will assist the Audit Manager and Group Auditor in promoting high quality service delivery and contribute to the development of new working techniques and practices. You will also act as a Relationship Manager with Directors in nominated areas of the Council, working as a key point of contact to ensure effective audit planning, assurance and support.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
You must be a member of a relevant professional body e.g. CCAB, AAT, IIA and be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of auditing principles, practices and modern audit techniques. Experience of internal audit within the public sector would be an advantage. All applicants will need an enquiring mind, good communication skills and an ability to produce work of a consistently high standard.
